What does the PHEV stand for?
PHEV stands for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The 2020 Outlander PHEV has both an electric motor and a regular gas or diesel engine.
What makes the Outlander PHEV different from other plug-in hybrid crossovers?
What separates the Outlander PHEV is the 3 levels of charging. Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging makes charging your vehicle’s battery easy and convenient.
How do I charge my Outlander PHEV?
Both Level 1 & 2 use the left electric charge port on your Outlander PHEV. Level 1 uses 120V while Level 2 uses 240 which cuts the charge time in half. The DC Fast Charging uses a gas pump-sized charger at stations which can boost up the battery to 80% charge in 25 minutes.
Do I need to setup a charging station at home?
No. You’re able to charge your Outlander PHEV to full capacity with the standard 120V household power outlet in less than eight hours. However, with a professionally installed 240V at-home charging station, you can cut your charging time in half.
What is the range of the Outlander PHEV’s EV Mode?
The Outlander PHEV can travel up to 22 miles in pure EV Mode. The range depends on usage or situations. Frequent braking and high speeds may reduce range while using regenerative breaking in S-AWC Eco Mode can increase range.
What is the seating capacity?
The Outlander PHEV can seat up to five passengers plus room for your cargo.
What are the drive modes?
The Outlander PHEV has three different drive modes. EV Mode, Series Hybrid Mode, and Parallel Hybrid Mode. With the EV Mode, the electric motors power the vehicle using electricity from the battery. With Series Hybrid Mode, it’s a combination of using electric power and engine assistance when needed, such as entering the highway or going uphill. With Parallel Hybrid Mode, it’s the engine that powers the vehicle with assistance from the electric motors when extra power is needed.
